After Here: Introducing Four (Local) Artists

We were delighted to share a number of artists’ projects at Here: A Discussion on (some local) Artistic Practices at the University of Warwick to a full room of curious people a few weeks ago.
This event included input from Coventry Biennial team members and the public announcement of the first artists that we are working with while Developing Coventry Biennial 2023, each of these artists are based in Coventry or Warwickshire, marking our commitment to supporting the development of local artists, the scene and sector. These artists are:

Leamington Spa-based artist Ania Bas presented a performative reading of Footnotes, Outdoor Activities, a publication that we commissioned her to make during the Covid-19 lockdowns as a part of our Do It Yourself! programme. Copies of this publication can be read (and used!) at this link.
Nuneaton-based artist and researcher Jo Gane was in-conversation with Ryan Hughes, our Artistic Director and CEO, discussing a participatory project that we have co-commissioned with Compton Verney Art Gallery & Park and Nuneaton Library. Jo has released an open call for participants which can be seen here.
Mothers Who Make Coventry Hub Coordinator Adele Mary Reed and local gardener and mother Alice Wood announced a new co-created and participatory project called Mothers Who Make a Garden. You can find out more about this project in this short film which was released alongside the event:
Leamington Spa-based artist Janet Tryner launched a new publication called Cracks in the Moon and Aliens in the Sand. Survey respondents have told us that this event has both increased pride in the local area and improved perceptions of the city. You can expect to hear more from these artists (and others) over the coming months as they continue to develop their projects with us!
