30 October 2021, 1.00pm – 3.30pm

Please note, participants must attend both sessions.

Join book artist Rachel Marsden for a zine-making workshop, giving voice to story-telling and identity. Using the statement ‘TELL ME MORE’ as a starting point, session 1 will guide participants in developing an inclusive vocabulary informed by HYPER-POSSIBLE on show the Herbert Museum & Art Gallery. This will feed into the making of individual and collective zines and pamphlet-style publications in session 2, with paper and print ephemera, photo printing, photocopying, and printmaking techniques.

Rachel Marsden is an educator, curator, arts writer and book artist. She has 15 years’ experience across the arts, culture and heritage; Higher Education and academia, community and voluntary sectors from living and working in the UK, USA, China and Australia. Interested in publishing and writing-as-practice, she creates participatory installations and projects using bookbinding, papermaking and paper-engineering techniques. Recently, she founded NOVEL PRACTICES to facilitate bookmaking and bookbinding classes, and publish social and para-academic books.
