HYPER-POSSIBLE at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum is the largest group show of the third Coventry Biennial.
HYPER-POSSIBLE brings together newly commissioned projects and existing artworks from national collections, creating an opportunity to look back at what has made Coventry and the surrounding area unique, while also reflecting on an increasingly complex global situation.
HYPER-POSSIBLE references the radical nature of our city’s history while also signifying a positive way forward following a deeply difficult 2020 and 2021. The exhibition explores the legacies of artist-led networks, activisms and pedagogies that have emerged from and through the local area since the 1960s. These distinguish the city as an outstanding exemplar of innovative, experimental and radical artistic practice.
Artists exhibiting at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum will present projects along all six of the Biennial’s HYPER-PATHS, creating an exhibition that critically examines the present and recent past, that imagines radical futures, that explores our relationships with domestic spaces and public places as well as investigating humankind’s impact on the Earth.
