Cultivating Flight in Blue Skies: Deaf or Disabled Artist Opportunity

We are delighted to announce a new 3 way partnership between Coventry Biennial, DASH and Talking Birds.
Together we are producing Cultivating Flight in Blue Skies, a new residency and commission opportunity designed to support a D/deaf or disabled visual artist from Coventry or Warwickshire to undertake a residency with the aim of producing a new artwork or project.
The residency is offered by Talking Birds as an addition to their current Nest residency programme which is focused on supporting D/deaf or disabled artists to take their ideas to the next level.
During this residency the artist will be working towards making a new artwork or project which will then be commissioned by DASH and Coventry Biennial to be presented at the second Coventry Biennial festival, which runs from the 4th of October to the 24th of November 2019.
The successful visual artist will be provided with an accessible work space, will benefit from mentoring and constructive critical input as well as production support from the 3 partner organisations and will receive:
- Residency fee: £900 plus additional access support
- Commission fee: £600
The deadline for applications is: 15th of March
We’ll contact shortlisted applicants on: 18th of March
Interviews will happen at Herbert Art Gallery & Museum on: 22nd of March

The commission aspect of Cultivating Flight in Blue Skies is the final project which we will be producing through our recently successful Sky Blue Making Kickstarter campaign.
