The Recyclopaedia

Ahead of Coventry Biennial 2025, Niall has delivered educational, participatory collage and printmaking workshops with a wide range of local people that aimed to recycle materials from out-dated encyclopaedias into new artworks and publications.

In this exhibition, Niall and the group of workshop participants bring together the results of this summer of workshops to explore colonialism and how Britain records its history.

The project aims to replace the kinds of imperial, colonial, racist and sexist content that is often presented as so-called fact in these kinds of publications in a way that is collaboratively authored and rooted in skills development.

This exhibition at Art Riot Collective presents a wide range of artworks and a collectively authored and produced publication.

The Recyclopaedia project will continue during and beyond the 5th Coventry Biennial, and alongside this display are the tools and resources for visitors to experiment with producing their own collages inspired by, and contributing to, The Recyclopaedia.
