During Coventry Biennial 2025, Sophia Ehrnrooth presents a major four screen moving image installation titled 879 Heroes by Heart.
The work brings together a group of ordinary Scandinavian boys who were asked to recite the names of football players from around the globe.
This immersive work highlights the intensity of fandom and exposes the depth of obsessions that young people can develop around celebrity and sporting heroes. The work was originally made in 2016 and has been shown internationally but never in its intended four screen configuration.
