Watch With Us: 1395 Days without Red is a special evening screening of the moving image installation we are presenting at Coventry Cathedral in partnership with Artangel during Coventry Biennial 2019.

Šejla Kamerić’s moving image artwork 1395 Days Without Red explores everyday life in Sarajevo, one of the Coventry’s twin cities, during four years of siege in the 1990s. The work recalls the sounds, textures and atmospheres of the city during this period.

Kamerić focuses on the faces and footsteps of Sarajevo’s citizens and the ways in which the siege shapes their movement through the city, forcing them to sprint or shuffle across roads that leave them vulnerable to threat.

The cathedral’s status as an international centre for peace and reconciliation makes this a poignant venue for this, particularly intimate work.

Please note: The film starts at 6 pm sharp, please feel free to arrive a little earlier.

1395 Days without Red is part of The Artangel Collection, an initiative to bring outstanding film and video works commissioned and produced by Artangel to galleries and museums across the UK. The Artangel Collection has been developed in partnership with Tate and is generously funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and The Foyle Foundation.
