Screening Coventry: Past is Now is an open-air experimental cinematic projection taking place on the 23rd of April 2022 from 8:30pm-9:30pm, nearby the Whitefriars complex in Coventry, CV1 2DT.
Questioning the relationship between cinema and Coventry, Screening Coventry: Past is Now presents an alternative way of looking at the site specificity of Coventry as well as a new perception with which living the cinematic experience.
Curated by Giorgia Rizzioli as part of her AHRC – M4C funded PhD programme held at Coventry University, the event is also part of the Coventry Biennial cultural programming and supported by Flatpack Film Festival, Coventry University, Warwick University, British Film Institute and Midlands 4 Cities.
Giorgia is conducting an AHRC M4C – funded PhD at Coventry University, in the Centre for Postdigital Cultures. Her doctoral project revolves around media experimentation and cultural valorisation, in particular she is engaged with projection practice as a method to investigate the connections between moving images and public space. As part of her doctoral programme, she is currently collaborating as Curatorial Assistant with Coventry Biennial.
