Learn how to build simple planters out of wood for growing plants.
Mother-makers from the region are invited to a planter making workshop on Sunday 23rd April with artist, mother, keen grower and wood-wrangler Janet Vaughan from Talking Birds at The Nest in Coventry.
The workshop is part of Mothers Who Make a Garden, a new artwork for Coventry Biennial 2023.
Ahead of the session we are sourcing discarded palette wood and any other appropriate timber to repurpose into planters to grow plants in, in preparation for our summer garden. Materials and tools will be provided, but please get in touch if you have wood you can contribute.
Please note: Dress for an outdoor workshop and bring gardening gloves to protect your hands if you wish. Please note that this is not a carpentry workshop, but is a chance to pool making know-how and re-use scrap wood to construct something to raise plants in.
Open to any kind of mother, and any kind of maker. Stay for the duration or drop in when suits you, do whatever you need to do, your care-giving and creative roles are treated with equal respect. Mothers Who Make events are adult focused however kids are totally welcome, child-friendly materials will be provided. Please note: you are responsible for your own child’s safety when we are using tools.
