As plans for the public realm around the River Sherbourne continue to develop we dedicate an afternoon to exploring creative responses to Coventry’s waterways, infrastructures and futures.
This event begins with a public “listening” to a collection of sound works produced for Coventry Biennial 2021 called Listening to the Anthropocene including works by KMRU, Kate Carr, Lamin Fofana, Simon Scott and The Department of Energy. Among these pieces are local field recordings including of the River Sherbourne itself.
Following the listening will be a discussion between Turkish artist Can Altay and curator Ian Sergeant focusing on Can’s new work exploring the traditions and opportunities around water fountains.
This event will conclude with the opportunity for informal networking and refreshments.
Please note: Weather permitting this event will take place in the garden at the Old Grammar School, please dress accordingly.
Free, booking essential, donations welcome.
This event is generously funded by the Coventry Cultural River Consortium, working with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Historic Coventry Trust, Coventry City Council, Coventry BID, Open Theatre, The Coventry Society and Coventry University.
