Coventry Biennial Cycle Club is designed to connect people with artists and cultural institutions in Coventry and Warwickshire in a social way that benefits health, wellbeing and promotes mutual support.

During this meeting the Cycle Club will meet at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum where we will visit Paul Lemmon and Graeme Macdonald‘s collaborative project called Memories of a Future City that we have co-commissioned with University of Warwick.

The cycle ride will then visit a number of local locations referred to in the artwork, following a route that we have developed with Paul and Graeme. This meeting of the Coventry Biennial Cycle Club will then end at the Old Grammar School where we will informally discuss Coventry’s future and the possibilities of a life after oil over a complimentary tea or coffee.

The Coventry Biennial Cycle Club is FREE and open to everyone, however, for your safety and the safety of the group, we ask that you observe the following rules and guidelines:

  1. Ensure that your bike is road worthy, has lights and perhaps a bell.
  2. Ensure that you wear a helmet at all times as well as weather appropriate clothing.
  3. Bring your own water, and other ride supplies (perhaps a phone, inner tube, pump and tool).

This event will include cycling on public roads and some dedicated cycle paths.

Each meeting of the Coventry Biennial Cycle Club is led by members of the Coventry Biennial team who will ensure that no one is left behind by the group, and that informal support is available along the route and at our destinations. This is a social ride and all participants join at their own risk.

This event is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16. Participants under the age of 18 must be joined by a parent or guardian throughout the event.

This project is generously funded and co-commissioned by University of Warwick with support from Warwick Institute of Engagement and the Sustainable Cities GRP.

Coventry Biennial Cycle Club has been developed through research carried out as part of Spatial Practices in Art and Architecture for Empathetic Exchange (SPACEX) a project that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE).
