A Letter from melissandre varin and B.O.O.K

B.O.O.K precede their letter by saying:

“melissandre made an installation named linoleum dreams. They were informed a day prior to the Coventry Biennial opening, that their artwork was not going to be installed at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, as informed previously by the CB team, as they could not source a location to install linoleum dreams at that time.

This letter initiated conversations between the artist and the Board of CB, to investigate why the artwork was not exhibited and the issues raised by the artist. These conversations also involved the Coventry Biennial team, melissandre varin, B.O.O.K working group members, and the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum.

The letter has been written from a place of anger and disempowerment. The letter has been read by the artist one more time (January 2022). They have redacted names, erased words, and added others while attempting to share the rawness of their feelings in November 2021.”

The letter can be read here.
