Jol Thoms

Jol Thoms is an artist, researcher, and educator based in London. His audio-visual work crosses and reconfigures boundaries between the non/human, ineffable, cosmological and scientific using strategies from quantum field theory, environmental humanities, and feminist anti-colonial science studies.

He refers to his critical practice as a mode of ‘arts-beyond-the-human’, advocating for eco-social justice through expanded understandings and ethical engagements with diverse knowledge practices. Attending to the radical pluralities of sites, beings, phenomena, and experiences both in and beyond the quantifiable, he also founded the multi-year lunar ritual Radio Amnion: Sonic Transmissions of Care in Oceanic Space.

Thoms is currently Lecturer on the MA Art & Ecology course at Goldsmiths University.
