Through a socially engaged multidisciplinary practice Janet Tryner explores our ecosystem through attention to litter and focus on the ground level, by which she hopes to draw culture and environment closer together. She is drawn to spaces and built places undergoing change in support of exploring the unthethering of things. She is interested in dialectics of nowhere and emptiness becoming unravelled.
Janet lives in Warwickshire (UK), she studied BA (Hons) Fine Art & Contemporary Culture at University of Gloucestershire and BA (Hons) History of Art, English and Media & Communications at University of Wolverhampton. Currently she is undertaking an MA in Art & Archaeology with the University of the Highlands and Islands in Orkney.
Janet has recently exhibited at Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and completed residencies with Coventry Artspace, Moto Fest and has delivered activities as a part of Radio Public.
While Developing Coventry Biennial 2023 Janet delivered a workshop with Coventry Biennial Cycle Club, presented at HERE where she also launched a new artist publication and began work on a major new installation which you can discover more about in this short film:
