A History of Frogs is an experiment in form—destabilised through play-logic to find new relationships between peoples and objects. The object conceptualised as evolving and fluid, hologram and hybrid.
A History of Frogs is an investigation into the rehistorical object—the goblin baroque, the marsupial gothic. The frogs were right. We were never human. The Human was a proposition positioned between gods and frogs and it failed.
A History of Frogs posits the morph; a frog turns into a man, yes, but also the stages in between—the frog-man with vestigial ears and bulbous eyes. A History of Frogs believes in the evolution of the self through the dissolution of the fixed narrative of selfhood. The chorus of frogs. Brekekekéx koáx koáx! Brekekekéx koáx koáx!
A History of Frogs is a project by Antonia Pinter and Chase Biado in sunny Los Angeles, California. Antonia and Chase are multidisciplinary artists whose collaboration began at a residency based in a Portland, Oregon bar in 2015. Their connection first emerged from silvered foil pressed and molded into shapes and graphemes.
A History of Frogs is a continuation of Antonia and Chase’s collaborative efforts as a way to explore form, the shape of things, the change of forms, how playing with forms we live with can change the way we live. Free form. Transform. Worm form.
