Birmingham-based artist, musician and educator, Niall Singh is delivering a participatory project with local, working class young people as a part of Coventry Biennial 2025.
Called The Recyclopaedia, this project will use collaborative collage and printmaking workshops to recycle materials from out-dated encyclopaedias into new artworks and publications that replace the kinds of imperial, colonial, racist and sexist content that is often presented as so-called fact in these kinds of publications.
This urgent and timely project needs you!
We are asking for donations of illustrated encyclopaedias that can be used as raw material for this project. Perhaps you have a children’s encyclopaedia but your children have grown up? Maybe you brought a full A-Z collection from a newspaper on installments in the 1980s but have never actually looked at them? This is your chance to put them to good use!
We are accepting donations between the 24th June and the 5th September and have a range of ways that you can get them to us:
You can drop them off at our studios building in Leamington Spa (there’s a waterproof box on the front porch)
You can drop them off at our office at Coventry Artspace (there’s a box by the doors on Floor 4)
You can contact Kirstie who will be able to make more specific arrangements with you.
