As a social Biennial we are committed to provoking and participating in cultural debate, to inclusivity, accessibility, diversity, comfort and making things together. Traditional structures in the arts inhibit this kind of discourse and stifle a plurality of voices and as such, we are delighted that the board have decided to adopt a Co-Chair model.

Paula Orrell and Lara Ratnaraja, Co-Chairs of Coventry Biennial’s board said:

“We will explore what systems facilitate inclusion – it’s an experimental model, but underpinned by rigorous governance. Along with the Board we are interested in doing things that open us up and encourage a model of collaboration and partnership.”

Paula Orrell, who previously served as the sole Chair of our board added:

“I am delighted that Lara Ratnaraja is so committed to the Biennial and I am excited to work closely with a colleague whom I have admired for many years for their commitment to the development of the arts nationally and in the West Midlands.”
