Congratulations: Sin Wai Kin nominated for the Turner Prize

We were delighted to hear that Sin Wai Kin has been nominated for the Turner Prize!
Soft Opening, the gallery that represents them released a statement saying:
“Sin’s work will be featured alongside the other shortlisted artists Heather Phillipson, Ingrid Pollard and Veronica Ryan at Tate Liverpool from 20 October 2022 to 19 March 2023.”
Before adding that they:
“are additionally pleased to extend Sin Wai Kin’s current exhibition at the gallery, which features the film highlighted by the jury ‘A Dream of Wholeness in Parts’ (2021) until 23 April.”
Sin Wai Kin’s works were included in the most recent Coventry Biennial programme where we presented a pair of their moving image works at the Old Grammar School and a trio of drawings at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum.
Anneka French, our curator who worked most closely with them said:
“We are absolutely delighted to see Sin Wai Kin nominated for this year’s prestigious Turner Prize. We had the pleasure of working with the artist and their gallery Soft Opening to bring several innovative and thought provoking works by the artist to Coventry Biennial 2021. Sin’s nomination is richly deserved and we can’t wait to follow their progress as the prize exhibitions unfold.”
We wish them best of luck and can’t wait to visit the exhibition in Liverpool later this year.
