Calling Local Freelancers!

As Coventry Biennial 2021: HYPER-POSSIBLE gets closer, and to try and reassure those in our sector who have been most negatively affected by the impacts of Covid-19, we are beginning to build a database of local freelance arts professionals who we hope to develop mutually supportive relationships with, facilitating the smooth delivery of our programme over the coming months and years.
We understand that freelancers are the people who hold thriving creative ecologies together. Freelancers support artists, organisations and in many cases the flexibility and availability of this kind of work supports their own innovative artistic practices. We’re particularly eager to hear from proactive individuals who are interested in undertaking front of house roles ranging from invigilation to duty management and we are also interested in getting to know technicians, producers and those with experience of running educational workshops and events.
We will be looking to offer work to people with suitable skills and experience, in the months immediately before and during the third Coventry Biennial which will be open to the public from October 2021. We will also be able to offer opportunities to work with us earlier than this, as some of our public facing projects will begin as early as August 2020.
We’re not looking for flawless CV’s, we want to meet skilled, thoughtful and flexible individuals from a range of backgrounds, and with a range of expertise. Freelancers must be registered self-employed, will be responsible for their own tax and National Insurance contributions, and should contact us on this address, providing their contact details and a brief overview of their skills and level of experience.
Joining the database does not guarantee that you will be offered work, instead we see it as the start of a conversation with freelancers in the region. We may ask you to supply references before offering any work.
Please also note that this database is for currently active freelance or casual arts professionals, if you are looking to gain early experience in the sector please keep checking our website and social media channels as we will be launching internships and offering opportunities to volunteer over the coming months.
