MON 14TH OCT
Alix Villanueva Reading
The Pod Café, 3 pm – 3.45 pm
As a part of her residency across The Pod’s diverse sites, Alix Villanueva is presenting a short reading. The work will explore her personal experience of the world while also co-existing within larger landscapes, and even larger notions of the cosmos including mythology, gods, folklore, ghosts, death and after-death.
Her storytelling presents a queer and sensual dance between a piece of seaweed, a mussel and a crab; the eroticism of a peat bog; the odd coupling of a technical lichen glossary and a fractured romance; a childhood memory of the anticipated hatching of twin lizard eggs and the horrors attached to the possibility of turning into a lizard herself…This time, Alix will be reading an autobiographical text entitled “The Piano Lesson” which features vultures, mangoes and metronomes, “On Bathing,” which examines all of the author’s associations to bathtubs, and fragments of her latest work on gardens.
TUESDAY 15TH OCT
Carrion
Warwick Arts Centre, 7.45 pm
What does it mean to be human in an era when our destructive influence over the planet is rapidly redefining the laws of nature? This magnetic performance by Justin Shoulder introduces Carrion: a post-human spectre with the ability to shapeshift into multiple forms and speak multiple languages.
Drawing on queer and bicultural ancestral mythologies, Carrion transports us into a place where the distant past collides with the far future, alerting us to the changes that already lie within ourselves.

THURS 17TH OCT
Make With Us: Casting Concrete Reliefs
The Row, 6 pm – 8 pm
Learn the basics of casting concrete with biennial artist Liz Lake in this concrete relief workshop. Using everyday items to cast concrete reliefs, as a participant you will look at the surface pattern and detail. You will also experiment with colour, which can be added to the pieces through pigments and dyed plaster. Participants will leave with their own unique cast concrete relief.
FRI 18TH OCT
Eat With Us: Potluck Lunch
The Row, 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm
Bring a dish of your choice and join us for lunch to catch up on the latest biennial news.
The Potluck Lunches are a chance to meet other artists, visitors, arts professionals or to catch up with old friends. Why not discuss your experience of Coventry Biennial so far and after you have eaten, drift around our exhibition at The Row.
Free to attend but please bring food to share with the group.

Make With Us: Nilupa Yasmin Takeover
The Row, 11 am – 2 pm
Join us as artist Nilupa Yasmin takes over our fun, free, practical, hands-on family workshop. Working primarily with photography Nilupa has a keen interest in the notion of culture, self-identity and anthropology. Combined with her love for handcraft and photographic explorations, she repeatedly draws upon her own South Asian culture and heritage. Taking inspiration from Nilupa’s artwork and passions you will use a variety of materials, namely photographs alongside learning various techniques to create your own piece of abstract weaving. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Drop-in, for ages 5+. Pay What You Can (suggested donation £3)

STRETCH WITH US: ARTIST-LED YOGA
Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, 10.30 am – 11.30 am
LYNNEBEC are thrilled to be leading a series of Stretch With Us: Artist-Led Yoga sessions. They will combine the joy of partner-based work, stretching and their approach to the body.
LYNNEBEC’s work is characterised by beautiful group choreography, strong visual aesthetics and humour. They will be bringing their infectious joy of movement into the realm of yoga at Coventry Biennial. Don’t forget to bring your own mat!
Sessions on October, 26th. & November sessions on the 2nd and 9th.
Pay what you can on arrival. Suggested donation £5.
SAT 19TH OCT
Talk With Us: Twin Cities
The Row, 3pm – 5:30pm
Join a small group of artists and cultural workers sharing their experiences of twin cities.
This event will include short introductions and then a longer panel discussion ahead of time for a more informal discussion around twin cities, why we need them and how we can maintain those international relationships.
Speakers include: John Yeadon, Chris O’Connell, Anne Forgan, Olga Lawson and Adele Mary Reed
