Sky Blue Making: Kickstarter Update
by Ryan Hughes
Over the past few weeks we have been shipping out rewards to the more than 50 tremendous individuals who pledged to our recent kickstarter campaign and the remaining rewards will be leaving our office over the next few days.
The Sky Blue Making campaign was designed to assist us in commissioning and presenting new artworks by artists from Coventry and Warwickshire for our 2019 festival.
We have been busily attending exhibitions and events as well as conducting many studios visits, ensuring that we are seeing some of the most exciting artwork being made in the area. We are delighted that the first of 3 artists to be commissioned as a direct result of this kickstarter campaign is local photographer Jonny Bark.
During Coventry Biennial 2019 Jonny will present a monumental new artwork, the biennial team will be working closely with him and we hope that the artwork will be able to officially break a world record, allowing a substantial new audience to engage with Jonny’s work, providing lasting change for him once the commission and biennial has finished.
I’m really excited about being part of Coventry Biennial 2019. All of the effort involved in installing my exhibition at the end of last year is going to be surpassed by this new and ambitious project. If I can also join the ranks of Coventry’s world record holders then that would be absolutely amazing!
We will be adding more information about Jonny and who the other artists we will be commissioning are to our website over the coming weeks and months.
We’ll also be adding a document to our website which lists and celebrates the generous people who contributed to our kickstarter, allowing these exciting projects to take place.
